The R James Company was founded in the early 1960s by Raymond James in Logan, Utah. Owning and building a business had been a lifelong goal, shaped by years of study, work, and mentorship across California, Utah, and Colorado.
With his wife, Mary Lou, Raymond opened the business on Main Street. What began with a focus on shoes grew into a broader community presence and became part of family life, education, and service in Logan.
After Raymond’s passing in 1970, the business eventually closed, but the example he set continued to influence later generations. In 1980, Louis James began building companies of his own and later brought that experience into the corporate world.
Years later, after reflecting on the service that Raymond James and his mentors had given to their community, Louis returned to entrepreneurship and revived R James Company as a tribute to that standard of care.
Today the company carries that legacy forward through consulting, technology support, and practical guidance for businesses that value trusted relationships.
